PRE / POST CARE

MICROPIGMENTATION IS NOT FOR CLIENTS WHO ARE:

  • Pregnant or nursing

  • Diabetic

  • Undergoing Chemotherapy (Consult with you doctor)

  • Viral infections (diseases)

  • Had Botox within a 2 week period of appointment

  • Had an organ transplant

  • Epilepsy

  • Sick with a cold or flu-like virus

  • Used Accutane in the past 6 months.

PRE-APPOINTMENT:

  • Stop using any skin thinners (Vitamin A, glycolic acids, exfoliation) on the brow/lip area 2 weeks prior to your appointment.

  • Any waxing or brow shaping should be done at least 2 days before.

  • If you tint your brows, tint it at least one week prior to the procedure.

  • Cosmetic botox or fillers should be done 2 weeks prior or 2 weeks after.

  • DO NOT consume alcohol, caffeine or take any blood thinners (aspirin, ibuprofen, Niacin 48 hours before your procedure, this will cause excess bleeding and may affect your results).

  • You may come in with how you normally draw in your brows so I can see what you are used to.  This is especially important for clients who desire a specific brow shape. If you are open to suggestions, I am happy to help design a custom brow/lip mapping to personally suit you.

  • You may experience hypersensitivity and more pain around or during your menstrual cycle.

  • We will not be able to tattoo over any blemishes, sores, and moles in or around the brow/lip area.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • DO NOT expect your brow/lip tattoos to heal perfectly after the first session. This can be a 2 step process. It takes time.  BE PATIENT during your 10 day healing process your brows/lips will change and appear different from day to day.

  • Immediately after your procedure it will appear darker and more defined and this will last up to 2 weeks . Your brow/lip tattoo can appear more solid, it may seem to disappear and it may look wet and painted on.

  • Around days 4-5 you will experience flaking and your brows/lips may look dry. DO NOT PICK let any dryness fall off naturally. If flakes get picked off it will result and cause patchy areas which can lead to scarring.

  • Your tattoo can take up to 4-12 weeks to fully heal. When the flaking comes off it may seem faint this is because a fresh layer of skin has healed over the tattoo. Give your brows/lips a few weeks they will appear softer look. Color will continue to change on a daily basis until all healing is complete.

  • You may experience itchiness in the brows/lips after the 10 days for up to 2 months due to the healing process of the dermal layer.

  • Not everyone's brows/lips can heal clean and crisp. Also for those who bleed more may tend to need more touch ups as the blood pushes the pigment out while we tattoo.

THINGS NOT TO DO:

  • DO NOT expose your brows/lips to the sun during the healing process.  UV Rays can alter the pigment of your tattoo.  Following the first 10 days SPF is important for the longevity your micropigmentation.

  • DO NOT sweat excessively for 10 days. Sweat contains salt and can infect and prematurely fade your brow tattoo. Salt in the sweat may also alter the colour of your tattoo.  Moderate exercise is fine.

  • DO NOT run direct water on your brow/lip tattoo. This is especially important in the first few days, you do not want to wash out any pigment.

  • DO NOT use Vaseline on your tattoo.

  • DO NOT use any makeup, creams, exfoliants on the brows for 10 days.

  • DO NOT go into sauna’s, pools, and steam rooms.

  • DO NOT get massages or facials or skin treatments during the healing process.

  • DO NOT go tanning and if you do cover your brow/lip tattoo, UV rays can alter the color of your tattoo.

  • DO not use exfoliants, retinol acids, or AHA’s on the brow/lip area.  It will fade your tattoo prematurely.

  • DO NOT use laser light therapy on your brow/lip tattoo. This can darken, lighten, and distort the pigment.

PERMANENT MAKEUP AFTERCARE:

  • Wash (Days 1-7)

    • Wash daily to remove bacteria, build up of product and oils, and dead skin. (Don't worry, THIS DOES NOT REMOVE THE PIGMENT!)

    • Gently wash the area each morning and night with water and gentle soap or an unscented cleanser like Dial Soap, Cetaphil, or baby shampoo.  With a very light touch, use your fingertips to gently cleanse the area.

    • Rub the area in a smooth motion for 10 seconds and rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away.

    • To dry, gently pat with a cotton round. DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or exfoliants.

  • Moisturize and hydrate (Days 1-7)

    • Apply a tiny amount of aquaphor 3 times a day with a cotton swab and spread it across the treated area.

    • Be sure not to over-apply, as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The product should be barely noticeable on the skin.

    • NEVER put the product on a wet or damp tattoo.

    • Use a fresh pillowcase while you sleep.

    • Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of color.

    • No facials, botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.

    • Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week.

    • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after the procedure.  Wear a hat when outdoors.

    • Avoid long, hot showers for the first 10 days.

    • Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days.

    • Avoid face-down swimming, lakes, and hot tubs for the first 10 days.

    • Avoid topical makeup and sunscreen on the area.

    • DO NOT rub, pick, or scratch the treated area

  • Limit your showers to 5 minutes so that you do not create too much steam. Keep your face/procedure area out of the water while you wash your body.

  • Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area.

BROW TINT & WAXING AFTERCARE:

  • Clients need to avoid getting their brows wet for 24 hours after the tint.

  • Avoid cleansers containing exfoliants or alpha hydroxy acid (AHA)

  • Avoid tweezing your brows between appointments in order to maintain your optimal shape.

  • You can reschedule your tint for 2-4 weeks depending on your hair growth.

  • If any redness, irrational, or swelling occurs a cold compress can soothe symptoms
